All four proposed amendments to the Pataskala City Charter on the November 3 ballot received more yes votes than no votes, according to unofficial results posted by the Licking County Board of Elections. The results are unofficial. They are not final until the Board completes its official canvass and certifies them.
The Board's summary report is labelled "Licking's Unofficial Canvass." It shows all 96 Licking County precincts reporting, with a report time of 9:37 p.m. on November 3. Each charter amendment required a majority affirmative vote to pass.
Section 3.07, Salaries of Elected Officials: 3,561 yes (51.13%) and 3,403 no (48.87%), a margin of 158 votes. This was the closest of the four questions.
Sections 3.02, 4.14, 5.04, 5.05, 6.02, 6.03, 8.02, 9.01, 10.02 and 11.01, decided together as one question: 3,569 yes (53.30%) and 3,127 no (46.70%).
Section 7.04, Parks and Recreation Board: 3,766 yes (56.06%) and 2,952 no (43.94%).
Proposed new Section 11.09, Prohibition of a Data Center, which began as a citizen initiative petition: 5,418 yes (73.62%) and 1,941 no (26.38%).
These totals can change before they are final. A directive from the Ohio Secretary of State to county boards of elections sets Tuesday, November 24, 2026 as the deadline for each board to complete its official certification of the November 3 results. The same directive requires boards to be open November 4 through November 7 so voters can correct problems with absentee or provisional ballots.
Until the results are certified, PataskalaOH.com is not describing any of the four amendments as adopted or in effect. City Ordinance 2026-4521 states that amendments from the Charter Revision Commission process that voters approve would take effect January 1, 2027. The ballot language for the data center question says that amendment would be effective immediately if approved.
The proposed data center section addresses construction of facilities that meet its definition, which includes an aggregate monthly demand or peak load greater than 25 megawatts. The text reviewed does not state that existing facilities would be prohibited from operating.
For the first three questions, the descriptions of what each would change come from the Charter Revision Commission's final 2025 recommendations to Council. Exhibit A to Ordinance 2026-4521, which the ordinance identifies as containing the final amendment language, was not included with the official copies PataskalaOH.com reviewed.
Some Pataskala voters also had other local issues on their ballots, including a Pataskala Public Library levy and two Southwest Licking Local School District issues. Those results are in the Board of Elections' unofficial results, linked below.
PataskalaOH.com will update this article when the Board of Elections certifies the November 3 results.
