Pataskala Resident Guide: Start With Your Address
A starting point for household questions that depend on where a property is: schools, taxes, water and sewer, and home-project permits.

PataskalaOH.com is an independent local information site. It is not operated by, or affiliated with, the City of Pataskala or any other government agency.
This page is a starting point for household questions. Several of the answers people look for, such as which public school district, which local taxes, which water and sewer service and which permit office apply, depend on the specific property. This page explains why, then points to a detailed, source-backed guide for each.
Start with your address
A Pataskala mailing address does not by itself establish all of the services, taxes, schools or permit rules that apply to a property.
Several different boundaries are involved, and each is drawn for its own purpose. They can line up at one address and differ at another, so one should not be assumed from another. Look up the specific property instead.
- Mailing address
- Used for delivering mail. It does not by itself show that a property is inside the City of Pataskala.
- City limits
- Whether a property is inside the City of Pataskala matters for City jurisdiction and for City income tax questions.
- School district
- A separate boundary. It determines which public school district serves an address and which school district tax information is relevant.
- Water and wastewater service territory
- Separate from both the city limits and the school district boundaries. Being inside a mapped service territory does not by itself show that a property is connected or can connect.
- Zoning district
- Relevant to the City’s zoning requirements for property inside City jurisdiction.
This page does not say what applies to any particular property. The guides below explain how to check each question.

Official lookup tools
These tools are run by government agencies. Each one answers part of the question for a specific property, and none of them answers all of it.
Scroll the table sideways if it is cut off.
| Tool | Helps answer | Does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| The FinderOhio Department of Taxation | The municipality and school district associated with a street address, for tax purposes. | What a person owes, the zoning district, the water or sewer provider, or which school building a student would attend. |
| Property searchLicking County Auditor | The municipality, school district and tax district recorded for a parcel. | The water or sewer provider, the zoning district, or which school building a student would attend. |

| GIS map: water and wastewater service areasCity of Pataskala | The mapped water and wastewater service territories. | That a property is connected, can connect, or has available capacity. |
A mapped service area does not by itself prove that a property is connected, can connect, or has available capacity. The service-area layers are switched off when the City map opens, and the Water and Sewer guide explains how to turn them on.
The Ohio Department of Taxation recommends verifying a Finder result with the municipality or the county auditor.

Sources and methodology
The lookup tools listed above are official government resources, run by the Ohio Department of Taxation, the Licking County Auditor and the City of Pataskala. Detailed claims and their source citations are on each subject guide. This page is deliberately an orientation: it explains the shared boundary question once and does not repeat the facts those guides cover.
